2025 Invocation is a projection in which portraits of deceased people are reimagined by an artificial intelligence program. To generate these portraits, people from the Mexican community in Montreal were asked to describe their deceased loved ones, their memories of them, and provide a photograph. These descriptions and the photograph were used to feed an artificial intelligence that generated the portraits presented here.

The goal is to create an allegory of how the memories of our loved ones change over time and their relationship with technology. Our memories are largely shaped by materials accessible thanks to technological advances—a photograph, a video, etc. With the advent of artificial intelligence, the way we remember will be modified; this will be combined with traditional rituals to honor their memory. It is the opening of two windows, one to the past and one to the future.
